Dell EqualLogic PS6100 series arrays deliver exceptional flexibility across multiple configurations. Fluid Data technology seemlessly tiers data between SSD, SAS and NL SAS disk to reduce latency and maximise performance. The 24-drive chassis delivers up to 72TB from a single 4U appliance.

The Dell EqualLogic PS6500 is a high-density virtualized storage array that can deliver a hugely scalable iSCSI SAN. The PS6500E or 'SUMO' appliance accomodates 48 SAS / SATA drives into just 4U of rack space, up to 16 appliances can be combined into a storage pool delivering a massive 1.5PB of high performance space.

By combining VMware Infrastructure and Dell EqualLogic PS Series arrays customers are provided a solution that delivers improved infrastructure scalability and management, high availability, significant cost savings and comprehensive disaster recovery. The excellent relationship between EqualLogic and VMware means that PS Series arrays are always amongst the first to support new features and standards.

Are You Ready for the Bake Off?

image

We'd be lying if we told you that Dell EqualLogic was the only iSCSI SAN platform out there, but we're entirely comfortable telling you that it's the one you should choose. When you're ready for the 'bake-off' we'd love to show you why WE sell more EqualLogic arrays than all the other vendors arrays put together...

EqualLogic 10GbE - Here, Now and Faster than Fibre

image

For a long time Fibre Channel storage vendors boasted about higher bandwidth connectivity into their arrays. Old school fibre channel buyers thought that Gigabit Ethernet iSCSI might compromise storage performance. We knew that wasn't the case, but if you're looking for high bandwidth it doesn't get fatter than this! Four 10GbE connections per array = blazing fast iSCSI!

Microsoft Hyper-V PDF Print E-mail

Dell EqualLogic Microsoft Windows 2008 Server R2 Hyper-V Whilst much of this site focuses on the performance and compatibility of EqualLogic iSCSI SAN storage with VMware, it is important to highlight that the platform also offers excellent compatibility and support for virtualization with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V.

The relationship between EqualLogic and Microsoft is long and well documented. EqualLogic was the first platform to be recognised as a Microsoft Simple SAN Full solution Partner, the platform offers tight integration with Microsoft features such as VSS, VDS and MPIO. Interestingly, a Microsoft technet document relating to the use of iSCSI storage features screenshots taken from an EqualLogic array - certainly a firm recommendation, even if it was informally made.

EqualLogic iSCSI SAN offers extensive support for hosting Hyper-V virtual machines, application aware tools allow consistent snapshots to be taken at both application level (Exchange, SQL) and of full Hyper-V virtual machines.

As with VMware, many advanced aspects of the Hyper-V platform such as Quick Migrate, Live Migration, Cluster Shared Volume and other latest features introduced with Windows Server 2008 R2 either require or are greatly enhanced through the use of an intelligent iSCSI SAN platform.

The EqualLogic storage platform continues to evolve and develop. New and improved tools are provided free of charge to existing users through their support agreement - a simple firmware update or download from the EqualLogic support site can provide increased resilience and greater performance.

There is no doubt that Hyper-V is a cost effective alternative to VMware - let's face it a VMware Enterprise Plus licence doesn't come cheap - so a low price iSCSI SAN platform is usually the next consideration. The EqualLogic PS4000 series offers full redundancy and enterprise features for under £10K, bringing a resilient virtual environment within reach of organisations of almost any size.
